How long does it take for royalties to get paid?

Royalty Reporting & Payouts

LabelGrid generates royalty reports at the end of each month (EOM). We ingest whatever reports and payments have been received from Digital Service Providers (DSPs) by that time. As soon as funds are reconciled, they are posted to your account and available for payout.

Because each DSP operates on its own reporting and payment schedule, royalty availability varies across platforms. Some DSPs report relatively quickly (Apple, Spotify), while others are slower or report quarterly.

How It Works

  1. DSP reports usage: Usually 30–60 days after the end of a given month.

  2. DSP pays LabelGrid: Typically 20–30 days after reporting, though some smaller DSPs take much longer.

  3. LabelGrid processes & posts: At EOM, any cleared funds are parsed and added to your royalty statement.

  4. You’re Paid: Once posted, royalties are available for payout immediately, usually a few days after the report.

Typical DSP Timelines

  • Apple/iTunes: ~45 days after month-end

  • Spotify: ~60 days after month-end

  • YouTube CID: Quarterly (paid the month after each quarter ends)

  • Other/Smaller DSPs: 90–180+ days, depending on their internal schedules

Example Timeline

  • April earnings on Apple → Report mid-June → Funds late June/July → Posted July EOM

  • April earnings on Spotify → Report late June/July → Funds July → Posted July EOM

  • April earnings on YouTube CID → Included in Q2 (Apr–Jun) → Report July → Funds August → Posted August EOM

  • April earnings on slower DSPs → May not appear until autumn or later

Key Points

  • Expect rolling monthly updates, not one bulk quarterly payment.

  • Faster DSPs (Apple, Spotify) = ~45–60 days.

  • Quarterly DSPs (YouTube CID) = payout the month after each quarter.

  • Slower DSPs may take 90–180+ days before funds are available.

  • Statements may look “incomplete” month to month, since different DSPs clear at different times.
